If you haven’t yet joined the list of competitors taking part in the Mick Coben Trophy darts competition on Sunday, we have a new incentive for you to do so. Mick’s brother Ray has been in touch with us from New Zealand and has very generously offered an annual prize to support the Trophy. He has kindly promised to fund us to the tune of £100 a year, which is a fabulous gesture, and one we were very grateful to accept. We have decided to split this between the winner and the runner-up, with a token amount going to the losing semi-finalists. So not only could you have a great evening but you could go home with your pockets full. If you haven’t signed up to compete yet there is time to put your name forward, while the competition starts at 4pm on Sunday and entries won’t stop until then.
In the meantime, please don’t forget it’s Scally’s quiz night on Saturday evening. Our Great North Runner will be setting the questions as usual from about 8.30 pm and entry is £2 a person to a maximum per team of four. We had a good crowd in and it would be great to see the numbers repeated tomorrow.
For those of you wondering what we’re showing on our screens this weekend, the fun starts tonight with a treat for Brighton fans when Sky shows their game at Bournemouth. With the Cherries still seeking their first point, this could be a great opportunity for the Albion to get their first Premiership away win, so if you haven’t got a ticket, get yourself down to the Club to watch the game, which kicks off at 8pm.
Saturday’s sport starts with Palace’s game at home to Southampton at 12.45 – a nice early start for Woy and our Palace fans. Then at 2.30 pm one of our screens will show the Leicester-Gloucester rugby match while the other will have the football scores as they come through from 3 pm. Then at 5.30 pm we’re showing Spurs against Swansea on one screen and on the other Villa’s banana skin away to Barnsley.
On Sunday we’ll have the Singapore Grands Prix at 1 pm and Chelsea-Arsenal at 1.30 pm – if we have a decent crowd to watch the Chelsea game we will turn both screens over to that. At 4pm, we’re showing Man United and Everton while the final day of the BMW Championships golf starts at 7 pm.
