We’ll be getting busier in the run-up to winter and we’ve got some great events for you to look forward to through November.
Next weekend its our October quiz, with Scally setting the questions on Saturday night at 8.30 pm. This is always a nice quirky night and Scally never fails to surprise us. It’s £2 a player in each team, up to a maximum of four, and, the more teams we have entered the better the prize money. If you haven’t done it before, give it a try. You never know, the questions might be right up your street.
On Saturday the 28th we’re opening up the Club to non-members so that we can raise money for St Peter’s & St James’s Hospice. We’ll have a special ale on tap for the event and we’ll be running the barbie. Meanwhile, a load of Halloween activities have been lined up for children from 5-7pm, so please spread the word to fellow parents that they and their kids will be very welcome. From 7pm, the adults get to play and to help you all do that we’ve lined up Lorelei Rock to entertain you. We had them at the same do last year and they were fantastic, with two ex-professional musicians belting out classics. Please spread the word, we’d love to make as much money for the hospice as possible.
There is also an evil looking pot behind the bar which has raffle tickets in it, to raise funds for the hospice. Tickets are only £1 a strip of five so please buy generously.
We start November on the 4th with an Open Mike Night organised by Richard Ellis. We had some great acts on last time we did this and we’re hoping for similar this time while, if any club members fancy having a go, go for it. You’ll have an appreciative audience.
Then in November we have Scally’s next quiz on the 18th, before one of the highlights of the year on November 25th. Yes, the Great Pie Night is on the horizon and now is the time to start preparing your entry. We’ll be awarding prizes for savoury pies and for sweet pies and we’ll be selling off the pies for charity on the night. This is always a great night which is taken very seriously by the entrants and we need not just pie makers, but pie eaters as well because we want to make lots of money for charity.
