This weekends sport

We’re going to be busy again at the Club this weekend.

Starting on Friday night, it’s Light Up Hassocks evening and the Club will have a little stand outside Reflex Hairdressers. We’ll be doing out best to promote the Club there and if anyone can help we’d be really grateful. We start at around 3.15 when we set up, so that we can be there before the parade comes through. All that will be involved there will be putting up a couple of tables and our promotional banner. From then, things should kick off properly from about 4pm and we’re then going to be handing out promotional stuff, telling people about the Club and where we are and trying to sign up any potential new members. That’s where some help will be gratefully received because just getting people to chat is never easy. Hayley in Reflex will be dishing out wine to visitors there so we’ll also be directing people in to see her and the rest of the folks there. If you can spare any time, we’d love to see you.

Two people we’re fairly sure we won’t be seeing tomorrow night are Matt Redmore and Banno, because our screens will be showing their teams Villa and Leeds playing each other at 7.45pm on Sky. They will no doubt be watching in the Club.

Over the weekend its Premiership action and there will also be international rugby union, although England have chickened out from playing New Zealand so you’ll have to put up with Wales B vs South Africa on Saturday afternoon instead. The action starts at 12.30 with Chelsea against Newcastle on Sky. Then its the rugby from 2.30pm, with the football results going through on a separate screen, before we move on to Arsenal-Man Utd on BT at 5.30pm.

On Sunday, we start at 1.30pm with the South Coast Derby, between Bournemouth and Southampton. Then at 4pm, Man City will be on, hosting West Ham, which sounds a bit of a mismatch but there you go.

There’s also plenty of FA Cup second round action going on, just ask at the bar if it looks as though there’s a screen nobody’s watching, and also the UK snooker championships at the moment.
