Extended period for membership renewals

Many thanks to all of you that have already renewed your memberships, you are helping us to have one of our best renewal years. Unfortunately we still have quite a few that haven’t got around to renewing and we need those people to get a move on with it because legally you should have already done it. We have decided to give you a bit more time, until the end of this month, January 31st, to get the job done. After that you will find that you have to go through the new membership application process to gain access to the Club. This will mean having to wait until the committee has reviewed your application and it may cost you an additional £20 joining fee – you have been warned .

Also all members please be aware that, to comply with the law on club licensing we will be introducing random spot checks on members using the Club and we will be legally obliged to ask members that do not have their membership cards with them to leave the Club. If you have not picked up your card yet, please ask at the bar.

Right, that’s the nag over with, now to fill you in on what’s going on at the Club this week. Apart from the resumption of snooker, pool and darts over the next week or so we’ll be watching plenty of football in the Club. Tonight, we’re showing Brighton vs Palace in the FA Cup. The game kicks off at 7.45pm and will be shown on BT2 this evening. We know quite a few of you that have season tickets for the Amex have opted not to go because of the potential for trouble so we’ll be very pleased to see you in the Club. We do have some Palace supporters as well, but they are largely civilised and have promised to behave.

Tomorrow and Wednesday night we’ll be showing League Cup football on Sky. We start on Tuesday with Man City and Bristol City playing the first leg of their semi final, kicking off at 7.45pm. Then at 8pm on Wednesday we’re showing Chelsea vs Arsenal in their first leg, also on Sky. That won’t be the end of the football this week because on Friday we’ll bring you the Steel City derby live from Bramall Lane, kicking off at 7.45pm.

And for those of you planning your next quiz night, Scally’s January quiz will be staged on Saturday week, January 20th, and he’d love to see as many of you as possible in to support his first quiz of the year, so please pencil that date into your diaries.
