Eat our Meat – BBQ Clear out this Sunday

As you’ve probably guessed, the weekend’s barbecue for the stoolball tourney was a bit of a washout, so we have plenty of meat left. What we’re currently looking at doing is running the barbie again on Sunday and clearing off the rest of the meat, which is currently in the freezer, plus maybe a little bit more. With the Community Shield match pitting Chelsea against Man City at 3pm on Sunday, we’ll be sparking up the barbie at about 1.30/2pm.

And, since we’re on the subject of football, let us interest you in the Tipsters prediction competition. This is run by Club member Neil Janes for both Club members and non-members. every week through the football season. Each year it raises £1,500 or so for charities and it also makes those of us that can predict wisely – normally Wolves fan Dan Chambers – considerably richer than you. For an investment of £2 a week you can join in. There are weekly prizes of £20, £10 and £5 and there is also a pot that builds to the end-of-season prize giving, which awards decent amounts of money, even down to about 10th place.

The Tipster competition starts on Saturday week, August 11th, so you will need to get your sheet in by lunchtime (12.05pm) that day or on the previous evening. Its a lot of fun and can be the focus of conversation at the bar for months running. On your form you’ll find you need to predict the scores in nine Premiership games and one from the Championship, the number of goals scored in those games, answer eight questions about these games and name four goalscorers in those games. It takes very little time to do, although some seem to go through every paper they can find before making up their minds, and it can be a lot of fun, so please give it a go.

If you want to enter you can grab a form and paym over the bar or you can pay by electronic banking, to do the latter please contact Neil, his details are on the bottom of the form.

And if your keen, keep your eyes peeled because we’ll be mailing details of a different sort of football prediction competition in the next couple of days.
