We’re already in the run-up towards Christmas and, to help you with your planning, here’s a run through of what we’ve got planned for the rest of the year.
We start next weekend on November 17th with our monthly quiz, set by Scally. That kicks off at 8.30pm and is guaranteed to keep you entertained.
Then a week later we’re staging our annual Great Pie Night on Saturday the 24th. This is always a great night for both pie-makers and pie eaters and it is fiercely contested. We need as many of you as possible to make pies, sweet or savoury, which will not only be in with a chance of winning a prize but will be sold off slice by slice for charity, so not only do you show us what a great cook you are, you help deserving causes. If you haven’t given it consideration yet, please give it a go and if you don’t fancy doing the cooking, come and eat pie – you’ll be appreciated. We’ll say more about the day next week.
On December 1st, we’re being entertained by Acoustica, who will bring us their acoustic interpretation of a range of rock songs. We had them in the Club a couple of months ago and they were bloody good, so please come down and enjoy. December 1st will also see our golfers going out at Seaford Head for the annual Turkey Trot. That’s always a good day so if you fancy getting some Christmas exercise put your names down on the sheet which is pinned to the noticeboard between the fruity and the bar.
On December 15th we’ll be enjoying our December quiz, which will no doubt have a festive feel to it, before we move onto the holiday season proper.
On December 22nd we’ll be enjoying our Christmas Raffle Night. This is always a great night with loads of great prizes, including many that will only be awarded on the night. As ever, your Chair has his eyes on one of the port and stilton hampers, not a telly, not booze, just a hamper please:-) And of course, if you want to win, you need to fill in the raffle tickets that have been delivered to you and drop them with the associated cash over the bar at the Club as quickly as you can. And don’t forget we have other tickets available for you to purchase or sell at the Club. All profits, after expenses on prizes, that are generated by the raffle will go to charities.
That should set us up nicely for Christmas before we celebrate New Year’s Eve. To help us all enjoy the night we’ll have Lorelei Rock playing, if you were in for Halloween Night you’ll know just how good they are, and we’ll be open past midnight to make sure all your auld lang synes are shared. That’s it to the end of the year, we’re planning the first few months of 2019 now but in the meantime, we’d love to see you in the Club on one or all of these events.
