We’re in for a treat this weekend because there’s loads on, with the return of Scally for one of his scintillating quizzes, the final games of the Six Nations, FA Cup football and more footy from the Premiership and the Championship.
But first, tomorrow night’s March quiz. We start at 8.30pm and the quiz is open to teams of four paying £2 each. There are prizes handed out through the quiz and everybody has a great time. So come down to the Club for a nice night. And if you’re a Wolves or United fan, we will have your quarter final on our screens, but with the sound off – you never know, if you take part in the quiz you might enjoy that more than the footy.
And so to this weekend’s sport – its complicated because there’s a lot of it. We start tomorrow night with the Watford-Palace FA Cup quarter final which kicks off at 12.15pm on BT2. That is followed at 12.30 by a top of the table Championship game, Leeds-Sheffield United, which is on Sky Sports VillaLeeds. We’re ignoring the Italy-France Six Nations game on the grounds that none of you will be interested.
Then at 2.45pm we’re showing Wales-Ireland in the Six Nations. This one will be a humdinger, with Wales claiming the Grand Slam and the Six Nations Championship if they win but Ireland putting themselves at the top of the table and counting on an England defeat to win it if they gain victory. That game will be on one set of screens, with the other given over to the football scores from 3pm.
All of our screens will be devoted to the England-Scotland match, which starts at 5pm. An England win following a Wales defeat makes England Six Nations champions. We’re expecting a crowd in for that so sadly won’t be showing BT’s bizarrely timed Swansea-Man City Cup Quarter Final from the 5.20pm kick off but we will switch straight over when the England game finishes at about 6.35pm. Finally on Saturday evening at 7.55pm we’ll have the Wolves-Man Utd game on, without the sound.
After all that lot you’d hope for a quiet Sunday but it ain’t gonna happen because at 2pm we’ll have the Albion on in an FA Cup quarter final, so if you haven’t got a ticket to visit the chic and swanky New Den area and you fancy a pint why not come down and watch the game in the Club. At the moment we’re assuming we have a crowd in for the Albion match and, because of that, we’re not planning to show the 2;15pm Fulham-Liverpool game but if only a few are in we can show both games, you’ll just need to ask Gordon nicely, which should go well. After that we’ll have our final game on of the weekend with Everton-Chelsea in the Prem at 4.30pm on Sky.
We’re also showing the Players Championship golf in the evenings and, of course, on Sunday evening we’ll have the usual free pool table from 7pm.
Finally, if you have your name down for the Club golf day on March 23, tomorrow week, you need to cough up your money for the day now/ Please pop it in an envelope and leave it behind the bar for the organisers.
