Date announced for our AGM

The Club’s annual general meeting will be held on Friday April 12th, in the snooker room. This is a meeting at which the Club’s officers present the annual accounts to members, when the Chair makes his report for the year and when all officers, with the exception of our President Derek Jenner, are elected to the committee. This is also the occasion at which members can propose changes to our rules. They will need to find a seconder for their proposal and they will need to lodge it with the secretary by a month before the AGM date, which is next Tuesday. Once the Tuesday deadline is passed and we are sure that all proposed rule changes in, an agenda will be posted up on the noticeboard in the lobby.

In the meantime, we have loads of sport for you to look forward to through the coming weekend. First of all, this evening we’re showing Chelsea-Dinamo Kiev in the Europa League on BT at 8pm, so get your skates on if you want to catch the kick off. Then tomorrow night we’re in the Championship for Norwich-Swansea which kicks off at 7.45pm on Sky.

That takes us into the weekend proper and its a humdinger. Albion fans if you haven’t got a ticket for the big game at 12.30pm on Saturday lunchtime, we’ll be showing all of Palace-Brighton on Sky. Then as soon as the football’s over we;ll be switching one screen to rugby and Scotland-Wales, while our other screens will show the results service from 3pm. Then at 4.45pm we’ll be watching England-Italy in the 6 Nations, a game England really should win by miles – and remember, bonus points will put England in with a great chance of winning the 6 Nations, assuming Wales don’t win all their games.

If we have a crowd in for the England game, we’ll be putting all screens over to that. If we don’t, one set of screens can be switched to BT’s Man City-Watford game, which starts at 5.30pm, while we’ll definitely switch all screens to show the football once the rugby finishes.

On Sunday we start at Noon with Liverpool-Burnley on BT, while at the same time masochists can also watch the Birmingham-Villa Championship game on Sky. They will be followed by Chelsea-Wolves on Sky at 2.05pm and then at 4.30pm we’re showing Arsenal-Man Utd, also on Sky. Rugger buggers will need to ask at the bar if the want to watch the Ireland-France but please don’t be offended if Gordon tells you no in his own unique way.

That will be it for this weekend. Next week we;ll have European and Championship football on Tuesday-Thursday before we move into a weekend that contains the FA Cup quarter finals, the final round of the Six Nations and Premiership football. And, last but not least, on Saturday March 16, we’ll be staging our March quiz.
