Have a sing, tell a joke – it’s Open Mic Night this weekend

Just to remind you, its Open Mike Night in the Club tomorrow night. The musicians normally get going at around about 8-8.30pm and, if its the same as our last one, this should be a great night. Please come along and support the musicians and, if you fancy having a go yourself, all you have to do is make yourself known to one of the artistes.

On our TVs this weekend we’ve got loads of sport for you to watch, with the latest instalment in the Premiership leadership race, Sussex in a one day game, some vital Championship football and rugby union.

We start tonight at 8pm with Liverpool-Huddersfield on Sky. Liverpool have to win to take the lead back in the Premiership, while the Terriers are already down. There is also cricket and rugby union to watch but you’ll need to ask at the bar, while the world championship snooker will be on Eurosport through most evenings. There is also the Zurich Classic golf on after the football.

Tomorrow we start at midday with Middlesex-Sussex in the One Day Cup. Then at 12.30pm we’re showing a feisty London derby, Spurs-West Ham on Sky. After the Spurs game we’ll switch one set of screens to the football results, with the cricket on the other set of screens. There is also Exeter-Harlequins on Sky but to watch that you’ll need to ask at the bar and, if there is anybody watching the cricket we won’t be turning over. After the football scores are over, we’ll switch all screens on to Brighton-Newcastle, which is on BT1 at 5.30pm, so we hope the cricket is done by then. We’ll probably be switching the screens off once the open mike night gets going but, if the players are amenable to the idea, we may be able to show the Norwich-Blackburn game in the Championship at 7.45pm. But don’t bank on it.

On Sunday we get going at Noon with two games, with Leicester-Arsenal and Villa-Leeds. Both, of course, are on Sky Sports VillaLeeds. Then at 2.05pm we’ll be watching the other part of the Prem leadership race, with Man City attempting to jump back above Liverpool by winning away at Burnley – easier said than done so it should be a fascinating match. At 4.30pm we finish off the weekend’s football with an also-rans challenge, Man Utd-Chelsea, which should be an interesting game anyway.

Next week, we move on to Champions League and Europa Cup football and Premiership footy next Friday before, on the weekend everything is dominated by our Spring Beer Festival which starts for members on Saturday.

Please help us to spread the word about the beerfest by teling as many non-members as you can, we want to sign them up as members. And if anyone can help us deliver leaflets advertising the beerfest we’d be very grateful. So far the Lodge Lane/Dale Avenue and Parklands Road/Ockenden Way segments have volunteers delivering but we;d really love some help delivering to Clayton Mills, to Ockley Way/Mackie Avenue, to Churchmead/Damian Way/Silverdale, to the Quadrant/Adastra Ave and N Grand Ave, to Orchard Lane.Kings & Queens Drive and S grand Avenue, to Chancellors Park/Woodsland, to Shepherds Walk/Belmont/N London Rd and to Friars Oak Rd/Stanford Ave/S London Road/Ham Fields.

If you can help we’d love to see you come forward. And it will do you some good to have a nice bracing walk.
