It’s almost World Cup time…

Well we’re almost there, with Russia 2 Saudi Arabia 0 our first live World Cup game on Thursday when we open. Of course, we’re only showing the second half because it rather inconveniently kicks off at 4pm and we open at 5pm but that will be the beginning of a month of international football. Our marriage guidance division advises in the strongest possible terms that if your partner is not a football lover, we will available for you. Not only can we give you a conflict-free footy watching area, we can provide you with beer, assuming you bring money with you, and we will be offering some free if you participate in and win any of our silly match-related games.

Having started our World Cup coverage with the Thursday game, things warm up on Friday when we open at 4pm with the Morocco-Iran game. Then at 7pm we’l have a cracking game on when Portugal meet Spain, the Chosen One versus Tiki Taka is going to be a must-see and we’ll be showing it all.

Of course, the World Cup won’t be the only thing on in the Club this weekend – well it would be if Matt Redmore had his way – because our golfing members can also enjoy the US Open on Sky. Coverage starts at 6pm on Thursday and Friday and we’l be showing it on one of our screens even if the sound is given over to the football.

That’s not the end of the televised sport because cricket and comedy lovers can watch England’s follow-up to their complete and absolute embarrassment by Scotland yesterday with their first one-dayer against Australia this summer. That will be on Sky from opening time at 5pm on Wednesday.

Then we start heading into the weekend, when we have the continuing World Cup and US Open, plus international rugby and more cricket. But the highlight will be on Saturday night, when Scally brings us his June quiz in the evening.

Finally, there is still time to do your first World Cup Tipsters sheet at the moment, sheets have to be in by Wednesday night. Also, our first World Cup sweepstake sold out last night, but for those of you that missed out, Arlette, we’ll start another tonight. Tickets are a fiver each and, as with the first draw, the prizes will be £100 for the winners, £50 for second place and a tenner for third – thanks very much to Old Gold for pointing out our error in the first mail.
