We’ve got the lot for you this weekend with an Open Mike Night, Six Nations rugby, top class Premiership football, Test cricket, the Albion and even Aston Villa. What’s not to like.
But first, are there any camera men in the Club who could take some pictures at the Club’s defibrillator unveiling next Wednesday afternoon? If you are a dab hand with a polaroid or some such and can spare some time on Wednesday to take some photos at the event we’d love to hear from you – please mail back to this address.
And so to our weekend, the highlight of which is our Open Mike Night tomorrow. Its free to Club members and their guests and, whether you fancy just listening or belting something out yourself, we’d love to see you in. We should be kicking off at about 8.30pm.
And the sport? Well tonight’s entertainment is Villa-Sheff Utd, the battle of the Matts pitching Redmore against Bolton. That’s kicking off at 7.45pm on Sky.
Then tomorrow our early Premiership game is Fulham-Man Utd at 12.30pm on Sky, giving the Cottagers the chance to be first to win against Ole’s reborn superheroes. That will be on both screens. The Third test starts at 2pm and we can put that on, but with the Scotland-Ireland 6 Nations game kicking off at 2.15pm, that should take priority. At 3pm, one screen will go over to the football scores and it will stay that way through the afternoon. At 4.45pm, we’ll put the Italy-Wales game on whilst keeping the scores going on the other. Then at 5.30pm we’ll be showing the Brighton-Burnley game on BT1. At the moment we’re assuming that a lot of our Albion fans will actually be down at the Amex rather than in the Club but, if enough of you are in the Club, we’ll switch both screens on to the football. We’re assuming that nobody’s that excited by Stjoke-Werst Brom in the Championship, which is also on at 5.30.
Sunday brings us a major clash and we hope that people bear with us and are accommodating with each other. This is because the England-France game kicks off at 3pm and the Man City-Chelsea match at 4pm, so we’ll show the rugby on one set of screens and football on the other, all the way through the rugby. Sunday actually starts with Championship football, with the carrot crunchers’ derby between Norwich and Ipswich kicking off on Sky at Noon. Then at 1.30pm we switch to Premiership football on one screen at 1.30pm with Spurs-Leicester on Sky. There is also the 3rd Test to watch in between all this stuff and into the evening after all the exciting stuff has passed through.
That’s not the end of the weekend because on Monday the 3rd Test will still be going on, we hope, and at 8pm we’ll be showing the final game of the weekend with Dan Chambers’ Wolves hosting Scally’s Newcastle at 8pm on Sky.
Next week we’ll be returning to European football, with Man Utd and Spurs playing in the Champions League and Arsenal and Chelsea in Europe’s version of the Checkatrade Trophy. We’ll also have Championship football, with Villa on again would you believe, and, at the end of the week we’ll be showing FA Cup football when you can all watch the Chair squirm as his team takes on a Premiership club.
