We’re in for a special night in the Club tomorrow night because its our 2018 Great Pie Night. That’s right. tomorrow’s the night when Club members bring their creations to the Club, where they will be sold off slice by slice, with all the money raised going to Charity. Every pie, savoury or sweet, will also be tasted by our select panel of judges – all upstanding and unbribeable citizens – to decide on which is the best of the savoury and sweet pies. The judging will start at about 7.30pm and we’ll be selling pie not long after, so we look forward to welcoming you all tomorrow night.
But to make the night go with a swing we need two things, lots of pie makers and lots of pie eaters. We need as many of each in the Club tomorrow night so that we can raise as much for charity as possible.
And that’s not the end of the weekend because we’ve got loads of great sport for you to watch as well. We start tomorrow afternoon with an absolute cracker at 3pm, when England take on Australia at rugby. And football fans, we are planning to show the usual results service on one screen but if we have as big a crowd in for the rugby as we had for the All Blacks game we may well have to switch all screens over to the rugby. For those keen to follow the football scores Matt Redmore and Banno are normally ahead of Sky anyway, using phone apps.
Once the rugby’s over we have a cracker from the Premiership, yes its back thank goodness, when BT bring us Spurs-Chelsea at 5.30pm. There is a Championship game on at the same time on Sky but we assuming that nobody will be that interested in Brentford-Boro.
On Sunday we start at Noon with a Midlands derby in the Championship – Villanil-Birmingham on Sky and then at 1.30pm we’ll be showing Bournemouth-Arsenal on a separate screen on Sky. Once the Championship game finishes we can show the Leicester-Saracens game which kicks off at 3pm on BT but you will have to ask at the bar – Gordon loves being asked to put rugby on. Then at 4pm somebody at Sky clearly heard we’re having a busy weekend, so they’re giving us a quiet finish with Wolves-Huddersfield.
That’s not finally the end of the weekend because on Monday night Sky are bringing us Burnley-Newcastle at 8pm.
Next week, if you’re still up for it, we have some crucial European football and some from the Championship before we move into a weekend that includes Light Up Hassocks on Friday night and then Acoustica playing live on Saturday December 1st. We’ll be mailing soon about Light Up Hassocks because we will need help setting up, running and taking down our pitch. And for Acoustica all you need to do is turn up to hear some great music next Saturday night. They gave us a great show last September and we’re really looking forward to another on tomorrow week.
