The future of Adastra Park

The Parish Council has kindly provided a folder to the Club setting out its proposals for the future of Adastra Park. We know that the park is a facility that many of you and your kids use, so we will have some questionnaires available for you to fill in to give your opinions on what is proposed. Simply have a look through, fill in the questionnaire and hand it back to us and we’ll make sure its delivered to the PC. The PC has said it can supply more if needed while the consultation will run for about a fortnight.

We are also close to finally deciding to install a defibrillator, with open access to all park users, this summer. The management committee will hopefully endorse the decision at its next meeting and then we’re looking for money. We’re in a good position already because we have had a good year and can set aside some money for the installation. However, we will be seeking funds from relevant bodies and as a part of that we ask you members if anyone has links to local societies like the Lions or the Rotary Club that we could use to approach them for assistance. Also, if anybody works for a company that might want to sponsor the installation we’d love to hear about that. The defib is planned to be installed on the outside wall of the Club, in the alcove close to the front door. It will be installed in a key-coded wall-mounted box with the key code available from SE Ambulances via telephone.

And to what’s on. For the punishment gluttons out there, the second test starts tomorrow against Pakistan. We’ll be showing it on Sky from opening time on each of Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We’ll only be able to open at 5pm on Monday and Tuesday, but we’re not holding out much hope of seeing any cricket then either.

On Saturday we have an added thrill for you. We’ll be showing England’s first pre-World Cup friendly against Nigeria. That starts at 5.15pm and, while we realise that its on ITV and you can watch it at home, experience says that its a lot better to watch England play in company and with beer than it is to suffer alone, so why not come down to the Club.

We’ll also have the Memorial Championship golf on on in the evenings.
