Given the date, here’s what you have to look forward to in the Club this month. We start on July 13th with Acoustica, who will be entertaining us with their brand of acoustic heavy rock. As ever its sure to be entertaining so we’d love to see you in to enjoy it. Their set normally starts around 8.30-9pm.
Then on July 14th we’re hosting/sponsoring a Stoolball Gala day. We’ll be breaking out the barbie for this one which has been organised to remember Sita, a former Club regular and stoolball player who was taken by cancer a few years ago. Organiser Karen Pratt will donate all funds raised to cancer charities and we’d love to have your support for that, even if its only in the shape of buying a burger.
On Saturday July 20th, we’ll be enjoying our July quiz. Scally will be kicking things off at about 8.30pm and its sure to be a good night.
On July 27th We’ll be welcoming a new band to the Club, the Hairy Rockers. They’ll be another band that does rock music acoustically and we’re sure you’ll enjoy them.
A night out rocking will be just the thing you need before taking part in the Club’s golf day on July 28th. The organisers have chosen Seaford Head golf course for nosh pre-golf, a full round of golf and then a barbecue plus prize-giving in the early evening. It should be a fabulous day and Seaford Head is a spectacular course so its sure to be a great day. Get your names down on the list which will be posted up on the Club noticeboard from tomorrow.
And another thing we’re doing, which is actually in early-August, is the day trip to Glorious Goodwood. We already have quite a few names up and we’re aware that quite a few of you are looking at doing this but we’d appreciate tying the numbers down over the next couple of weeks so please get your names down for this. There is a form for this on the noticeboard between the bar and the fruity.
And sport on TV this week. Well, right now England’s women are playing the US in their World Cup semi final and we’re showing it.
Tomorrow night from opening time we’ll be showing England-New Zealand in the one day World Cup. This is another that England must win if they’re to get through to the semi finals. Then at 8pm we’ll be showing Holland-Sweden in the other women’s World Cup semi final.
On Thursday night we have the 3M golf competition starting in the US at 8pm, and running through to Sunday night.
On the weekend we have the women’s World Cup third place game and Final, on at 4pm on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
There’s also Wimbledon chuntering through its early stages all week – please ask at the bar because yours truly can’t be arsed to comb through the order of play for each day,
and the cricket world cup continues with its group stages, with the last match before the semis, Australia-South Africa, taking place on Saturday.
And male football fans bear with us, you’ll be pleased to learn that our first competitive match of the new season will be on our TVs in exactly one month’s time. Although, apart from one of our members, you’ll probably be disappointed to find that its Luton-Boro.
