The Women’s World Cup and England chasing cricketing glory

We’ve still got loads of sport to look forward to in the Club this weekend, with the final Women’s World Cup games the highlight. But we also have the final group stage game of the cricket World Cup tomorrow, Wimbledon, and the African Cup of Nations, Sadly, we don’t get Premier TV, so we’ll have to miss out on giving Arsenal fans the rare experience of seeing their team win when they play their friendly at Borehamwood Town tomorrow.

Tonight we have the 3M golf championships on from 8.30pm – that runs through the weekend. We can also watch Senegal-Uganda in the group of 16 stage, live on Eurosport from 8pm.

Tomorrow we start at Noon with Australia-South Africa in the cricket World Cup. Then at 4pm, its England-Sweden in their Women’s World Cup third place game – the game they lost so narrowly on Tuesday night should have been the final as far as this observer is concerned. At 5pm tomorrow, we can show Nigeria-Cameroon in the African Cup and then at 8pm tomorrow night its Egypt-South Africa.

On Sunday we are bereft of cricket, because we’l be down to the last four next week, At 4pm its the Women’s World Cup Final, Holland-USA, and then at 5pm we can put Madagascar-DR Congo on if you ask at the bar, depending on what people are watching and how many there are. On Sunday night at 8pm we can show Algeria-Guinea in the last of the African Cup’s group of 16 games.

Next week we’ll have the cricket World Cup semi finals on Sky on Tuesday and Thursday and on Sunday the Final – who knows, England might even be in it. We’ll also have the African Cup quarter finals on Wednesday and Thursday evenings and the semis next Sunday. There’ll be the John Deere Classic golf and, on the weekend, the Wimbledon finals.

As ever, there’s lots of stuff on that might be just up your street on the telly this week and if we haven’t spotted it, just ask at the bar to have it put on. But please don’t get humpy if the answer is that we can’t put it on because somebody’s already watching something else.
