More World Cup’s than we know what to do with

Thanks for those of you that braved the weather for our gin tasting night. Although a few had to drop out we had a great night and we will be doing it again. We have a small amount of the gins left over and we’re selling that at normal gin prices, so if you’d like to find out what you missed, please ask at the bar for one of them.

We’re also looking to do a wine tasting and, following a member’s suggestion, we think we may have found someone who can do a cocktail night – it helps to mention fruit when discussing the prospects of this with Gordon.

This weekend we’ve got our June quiz coming up. Scally’s raring to go and he’ll have a great quiz prepared for you. This quiz will be on Saturday night, starting at 8.30pm and, as usual, it’ll be open to teams of four paying a fiver a head. We’d love to see you all in enjoying it on Saturday night, including last month’s quiz master Chris Wilson hopefully, who we’re all grateful to for stepping in at the last moment for us when Scally fell ill last month.

our sport this week will be focused on the cricket World Cup, the Women’s World Cup, European Championship qualifiers and the US Open. There will be World Cup games of one sort or another on pretty well every day through this week. On the Club TV lists we’re concentrating only on England games but, if you’re into either of the competitions please ask at the bar to ave it put on.

Ironically, both the next England games will be on on Friday. England-West Indies will be on from opening time at 4pm, weather permitting, and in the women’s World Cup England play Argentina at 8pm – looking forward to hearing all the usual cliches about Argentina..

The US Open starts at 8pm on Thursday night and we’ll be showing as much of the golf as we can, bearing in mind that we shut at 11pm and the golf may still be going. The US Open will run through the weekend, when coverage will start at 7pm.

At the beginning of this week, finishing tomorrow, there is a range of qualifying games going on for the 2020 Euros. Please ask at the bar if you’d like to see one of these games.
