First of all, its our snooker and billiards finals day on Sunday, June 30. As a result, there will be limited access to the snooker room on that day so please plan any weekend practice sessions for Saturday rather than be disappointed because you can’t get a table on Sunday.
Also on Sunday, Neil Janes has arranged to do his Tipsters awards in the Club at 5pm. If you took part in the Tipsters premiership results prediction competition that he runs last year last season, we’d love to see you in cheering on those that picked up cash prizes.
There is also something happening next Saturday, which is when the Hassocks Phoenix junior football club will be running a fund-raising barbie at the Club, ahead of the new season. This starts at Noon, so if you fancy a burger or hot dog for lunch next Saturday afternoon, they’ll be very happy to sell you one. They’ll also be in the Club for drinks so please do your best to welcome them because we can always do with new members and maybe we’ll get some if they have a good experience.
Although there’s not a huge amount on our TV sport priority list this week there is plenty going on. This afternoon at 2.10pm we’ll be showing the French Grand Prix on Sky F1 and at 4.30pm we’ll be showing England-Cameroon in the women’s world cup. There’s also golf tonight with the final day of the Travelers Championships starting at 6pm. But there’s also loads going on if you’re keen on international tournaments and we can show games from these if you ask at the bar.
First of all the cricket World Cup will be playing through the week, with England playing Australia on Tuesday, for the early birds, and India next Sunday from Noon.
Secondly, the Women’s World Cup is going through the knock-out round stage at the moment, with all the games on BBC something up to Tuesday. Assuming England win today’s game they’ll be playing Norway on their quarter final on Thursday evening at 8pm and the other quarters on at the same time each night through Sunday.
Next the Africa Cup of Nations has just started the group stages in Egypt and that will be on Eurosport. For example, today Morocco-Namibia kicks off at 3.30pm, Senegal-Tanzania at 6pm and Algeria-Kenya at 9pm tonight. The group stages will run through to Tuesday week.
Finally, we have spotted that the Copa America is on at the moment but sadly that is being shown on Premier, a channel that we don’t currently have a subscription for. We’ll have a look at what else Premier will be showing but the odd South American football match doesn’t yet justify the outlay – just why are Qatar playing in the Copa America?
Next week’s TV sport will also include the England under-21s final European Championships game against Croatia tomorrow night at 8pm, the Euro u-21 semi finals on Thursday and the Rocket Mortgage Classic golf from Thursday/.
